i agree that perhaps it should be suggested to certain addicts. i know of a woman who has had 3 kids taken into care, 1 went to father and a 5th was taken at birth, purely because she was a serious drug addict and couldnt keep the poor kids safe.

I am sorry but I don't agree with this idea.
Why?
If you are meaning sterilisation for BOTH sexes in this case,then OK,but if it's for women only then no.
Drug addicts are often unable to function in the real world(due to their addiction),how are they to judge whether or not this is right for them?
This smacks too much of Hitlers ideas of Eugenics.That is manipulation of the population by genetics to weed out the disabled,the socially inferior(drug addicts) or any other part of the population that a government sees fit to erradicate.
Just WHO decides which and why the person to be sterilised is to be,I doubt that it will be doctors,rather civil servants will lay down the rules (laws?) and we all know how badly drawn up many such rules are.
This is another case of "shutting the stable door after the horse has gone".That is finding a (bad) possible cure for something that should have beed addressed before the addiction etc had got to that stage.
I suppose those in favour will(in their blind blinkered way) assume that sterilisation will be the cure all,it won't,it will just mean there will be lots of sterilised drug addicts about,but they will still BE drug addicts!
This is very bad logic.

This is an even worse suggestion.
It say that women must be punished for even daring to have sex with a man who "might" have been a drug user.
This is the start of the slippery slope to government control of our personal and emotional lives.
Big Brother is watching.
Step out of line and you will be sterilised,whether you have had children yet,or not.
I saw the after effects of this in Germany in 1945 onwards,and I would fight tooth and nail to stop these crypto fascist ideas from getting into this country.
What's next in this theory?
Oh yes,
Lets lobotomise the Mentally Ill.
Lets give Alcoholics a drug aversion treatment.
Lets make women who have more than 2 children(in or out of wedlock) a hysterectomy,or sterlisation.
Lets give gays electrick shock aversion treament (this WAS done in the UK up till the late 1960's)
Lets euthenase the disabled.
I could list more (mainly the policies of Herr Hitler)
but I won't.
I only hope that common sense will prevail.
The money that may have been intended for this policy would be better spent trying to get addicts off of drugs.
Not all ideas like this from the USA are valid(most are not).
Just remember,this idea comes from a country that regarded "water boarding" as valid!

But I finish by saying that this is how it started in Germany.
When it got out of hand the originators of the ideas said "Oh,we didn't mean for it to go THIS far!"
but by then it was TOO late.

omg ive never heard of such a stupid idea. So they're addicted to something that costs a lot of money, to the point that some steal to fund their habits and now someone will offer them money?
Im sure they'd do anythin to get more money to fund their habits, wonder what theyd sell next?
