Hi there Rain,
I was born in 1923,and have heard so many of these predictions!
Every 10 years or so people predict the end of the world.
If the end of the world ever does come,I think it will be with a cataclysmic bang, and we won't get any warning.
Most of the doomsayers are people addicted to numerolgy, who think they can predict the future by working it...

The Large Hadron Collider has been up and running for the past five months. Three weeks ago reached 7TeV which is half its designed power. Last week it found its first W boson.
Yes it will be run at full power in 2012. However nobody with any knowledge of this technology has even the slightest concern that it will destroy the Earth.

I am sure the press will start to get scary about it, as the predicted date is at the end of 2012, they'll get the Olympics out of the way then pick up on this one. A lot of people may get very worried, so it's up to the sensible to keep their cool. If gravity switched off in ten minutes time, I believe we'd all fall off anyway - so there isn't a lot of point in getting het up and scared about things we can do nothing about......
