Weight Watchers Vs Slimming World

I've been going to WW for well over a year now and have only managed to lose 10lb in total then I seemed to hit a plateau and every week I seem to gain then lose then stay the same etc. It's really not very motivational. I'm just wondering whether I should quit WW and join Slimming World instead?
Is there anyone that has tried both and prefered one to the other? Any opinons much appreciated!

when i went s w i put weight on every week ....i only lost weight when i gave the club up ....good luck :0
I haven't been to either, but I know that some people swear by one, and some by the other. It all depends on what suits you best personally, and what seems to work for individuals. If you've stopped losing weight with WW then I'd say give SW a go instead. Worth a try - no point spending out on something that isn't all that successful and isn't motivating you anymore.

That's decided then! I've quit WW and will join SW after the bank holiday weekend :-) Think deep down I was just looking for some words of encouragement and knew WW wasn't for me and just needed someone to tell me to quit and try something else, so thanks guys, wish me luck! :-)
I've lost weight rapidly recently by eating loads of soup. I make it quite thick anyway, so it's very filling. I wasn't trying to lose weight, just detox and get more veggies inside me. It's a sure fire way to shed loads of pounds.
I'm with Slimming World and I managed to lose 3.5 stone. It took about 18 months. I've put about 1 stone back and have rejoined to try to get it off again and I'm finding it a lot harder this time. Possibly because I've less to lose this time. I can't speak about Weight Watchers as I've never been. My daughter was with WW in Canada and she lost about 1.5 stone, so I think it depends on what suits you best.
I'm still gaining weight from stopping smoking and I'm not sure which one to join, or how much it costs to join. I know four people who have been to SW and look fantastic and I'm told you can "eat anything", I think they have days of eating only one thing but I'm not sure I could stick to that.
only way to lose weight is exercise and watch what you are eating ...no mercy how much weight did u lose a week you think ?
I've tried both and couldn't get on with WW at all. Found SW much easier to keep to and lost 3 st in 3 months and never felt hungry.
I lost nearly 4st with SW but put it all back on and then some... now doing a low carb diet a bit less prescriptive than atkins but have lost 3.5 stone over the last 10 months and have found it pretty easy to fit around my lifestyle. I actually did best at a Slimming magazine club as I lost 5 stone with them but it was a long time ago... My friend and I used to save all out treat colories and take a container of vodka and tonic to drink during the class......our excuse was the coffee was too cheap and nasty..and it became a bit of a joke.
I have done both WW and SW over the past 15 - 20 years and found SW to be better for me. WeightWatchers is more restrictive on portion size, whereas Slimming World is more like restricting a certain food group (ie protein or carbs, but you choose which one for the day, and you can alternate if you want).
If you are a huge meat/fish eater SW will suit you.
If you are a huge carbs eater (pasta, potatoes, rice) SW will also suit you.
Just make sure you opt for the 'Original' days or 'Green' days and forget all about the new rubbish they're doing now such as 'extra easy' programme etc. Far too confusing and too similar to WW.
And before anyone says neither work 'cos I've quoted "the past 15 - 20 years" - the reason for that is I stop going to the meetings and weigh-ins when I reach my target
weight and then eventually slip back into my old habits!!
I've done WW and SW and found both were good to start but they failed in the end. I am now losing weight by myself. Started in November and have dropped two dress sizes due to a combination of healthier eating and excercise. I still have a fair way to go,there are still parts of my body I hate ( back fat ) but I am determined to keep going. I power walk every evening and use a treadmill aswell, I feel so much fitter than 6 months ago. If you really want to get in shape you need to think of it as a new way of life, not a diet. on this note, do the rosemary conley diet classes still exist? i used to do this years ago and it was great as you had an exercise class thrown in with it aswell at the end.

windycity8 - yes the Rosemary Conley classes do still exsist, I've seen them advertised in my local paper.
