Sorry that is Raised ESR in your blood
It's a marker of inflammation. It can't tell you where and why though, just that there is inflammation somewhere. It also depends on how raised it is as to the level of inflammation.

I have one due to my arthritis.

My husband is getting pains but only in the early hours of the morning, he says that it feels like all his internal organs are falling to one side and he is getting a pressing pain in his chest. Once morning comes the pain goes and he is ok all through the day.
Agree with Jenna, my husband used to have ESR checks due to polymyalgia rheumatica but they have changed to doing a CRP test (I think, sqad will correct me on this) which I think stands for C reactive protein and is considered, by our GPs anyway, a more informative test.
I agree with all the answers. It is not a specific test for ANY disease, but it is a good indicator of the response to treatment of a disease.i.e if the ESR is falling after instigating a treatment programme, the the treatment is working.

A raised ESR is of no diagnostic value in itself.
