How badly can stress affect a ladies monthly as I'm wondering if there's something else. But my mum doesn't seem worried, she buys me the stuff I need and does the laundry and hasn't mentioned anything.

1) Reduced bleeding
2) heavy bleeding
3) No bleeding
Stress can make you tense and can therefore make it painful or make you worry about it more. Stress also does affect your hormone levels.
Have a look here under the section "what influences menstruation"
http://www.netdoctor....enstruation_cycle.htm

If you're having heavy periods (which may be what I read into your question) then you are quite young for that, it is always worth speaking to your GP or practice nurse, they are used to questions like that and can usually put your mind at rest, or suggest ways to help.

I don't know if i should ask to go to the doctors. Ever since i started it hasn't been regular, but we were told that to start with it won't be but that was 4 or 5 years ago but now it might be due to stress . . . .I eat healthily, do enough exercise (although i'm on the rounder side of average)
Sorry forgot to add:
4) Regular periods
5) Irregular periods
Question Author
Ever since I started I have 3 or 4 a year lasting between 10 days and 2 weeks.
All seems normal to me.
molly, not everyone is every 28 days anyway, some people are quite irregular and this is perfectly OK. When it comes, is it what you would call normal? You sound fit and healthy enough in other ways. It settles down over the years. All you can do if you are irregular is "be prepared" and carry supplies with you (and some spare pants in case of accident) - that's what I used to do at your age.
I have never heard a teenager refer to their menstrual cycle as 'monthlies'. lol
My periods started when I was 12 and by the time I was 15 I still wasn't regular, it was so annoying never knowing when my 'friend' was going to visit that I deided to go on the pill just to be regular.
daffy...;-)
Your post crossed with mine - that sounds infrequent and lasting quite a long time, but that may be "normal for molly". Do you have a school nurse comes to the school who you could ask for advice, if you don't want to go to the practice nurse? You are 16 now so you can go to the doctor without parental approval now, and your consultation will be confidential if you find it hard to talk to your mum about this.

1) technically i've elft school

2) even if was still at school there isn't nurse, only first aiders and connexions advisors.
I can just imagine how "chuffed" a GP would be to be confronted with a 16yr old with irregular periods.
Question Author
It might be to do with stress as the last two time i was completely happy and carefree,
- summer camp then christmas.
Question Author
which was rather annoying.
Strangley enough Sqad I was put on the pill when I was 16 as mine were very irregular but when they did unexpectably appear I 'flooded' .Therefore My GP thought it might be an idea to 'falsely' regulate them and it worked a treat.Had to get a note from the GP to reassure my Mum that was the reason for it.How times change (little did she know would have been too late being concerned anyhow)
because of what has been said earlier, I am going to keep a close eye on this thread to see who has the strength to stay away , and who has blood like chip shop vinegar.
