Why do little girls grow up so fast?

This topic was discussed today on the telly, i was shocked to hear that girls are now starting puberty at 8 and 9 years old,when it used to be around 14,they are asking what has caused this to happen,could it be linked to obesity,or linked to some plastics that can produce oestrogen,no one can give a definitive answer,its really sad to think that a girl that should have to go through this so young,what do others think?

I was reading in a magazine the other day that they teach children about puberty at the age of 7 in schools. And sex education is usually 12 but most parents wanted them taught from age of 9! I was about 14 when I started I think. I remember the nits tits and naughty bits lady coming into school and my mate dared me to ask what if the string broke on a tampon and I had to soend the rest of the lesson trying to pull one off.

SImple Darwinism. Early puberty, early reproduction.

We have provided a society where a young woman can potentiallly thrive and ultimatly start reproduction at an early age with a mature body. Early pubery had previously been supressed by high maternal mortality of those not reay for childbirth. The cultural delay is good for an early maturer.

i went through puberty at around 6-7...possibly even younger...had boobs and pubes at primary school...but i suppose i became vaguely aware of it at that age and have memories of it...i dont even remember the start of the pubes but i do with the boobs - i was so young my mum took me the docs about my one boob (because 1 started a few weeks before the other) because she thought it was a growth...

me and my sis - who is only a year and half younger than me used to giggle about my 'fur' coat, and her 'suede' one...

its is also the reason i am a bit short...the puberty ended when i was the height of maybe an 10-12 yr old ...im 5'2" but my legs are short and out of proportion - my brother an sister are both very tall

Boo....you made me smile when talking about your "little Boo" not wanting to date boys until she's 35 !!!! I say that to my daughter, who's nearly 12. She just rolls her eyes and says "yeah right dad".

Little does she know that i ain't joking !!! I think 35 is the perfect age to meet your first boyfriend.
