Don't really know what you mean quincy, I've been a diabetic (ID) for 25 years and had no heart trouble. my heart is the same age as me. But like everything else it depends on how you treat it.
Just because you've just been diagnosed diabetic it doesn't mean your heart ages overnight. Go to Google and read up on it, get info, be in the know about the condition. - good luck.
There is a distinct association between diabetes and heart disease.
By "heart age" I presume that you mean the onset of hardening of the arteries and premature death......then the answer is YES.
The damage to the heart is done in the period between the onset of diabetes and the instigation of treatment, the longer that period, the more chance of heart damage.
However, a well controlled diabetic may well experience a "normal" lifespan with no heart problems.
