Am sat here twiddling my thumbs, prior to leaving this building for good in 24 hours, and then joining the massed ranks of the unemployed!
Does anyone have any suggestons as to things I could do to occupy my mind over the coming months, as employment prospects are at very best "slim"!!

Thanks squad.
Yeah - those with too much time on their hands ;-)
ha-ha sqad...it certainly is...and the retired too
seriously tho dys, I wish you well, is this a retirement or a redundancy?
Question Author
Bobbi both it comes under a Civil Service package that deems that I am at an age that constitutes retirement status, irrespective as to whether or not you can afford to retire, and guess what??!!
In that case dys - have you thought of being a giglio or a male escort? If Nigel Havers can do it, you can ;-)
that's very sad dys, what makes the CS any different to , say, B &Q, where they employ people of all ages, do they think you have lost your marbles when you hit 60?
Can you not afford to work part-time along with your pay-off?

I retired early from BT and took a part-time job as a company secretary...
There are loads of things you can do!
1. Have a ruthless look around your house and then get selling on EBay
2.Voluntary work
3. Loads of new hobbies that you always wanted to try but never had time for.
4. This is a great time of year for foraging for food for free (this will help eke out the catfood diet that pensioners live on)
5. Write that book!
I left BT with a good package deal too (early) then went part time in retail till I was 60
Doc was going to go to B&Q.... I wonder if he ever did?

Dys - Bobbi's talking about retail about 14 years ago, things might have changed a tad since then....

Bobbi that's the irony I am not a Civil Servant and have not been for 4 years. The job was transferred out to the private sector, we came as a job lot, pending us being paid off at a later date by the government. It's called the cheap option. The government get the job done on the cheap and then allow the private company to wield the axe on their behalf!!
C'est la vie
Bobbi is 74?
She looks good for her age!
-- answer removed --
Not bad eh Mrs O? And I think she still has all her own hair. Mind you, don't mention the teeth, they got stuck in the glass the other night ;-)

Blimey bobbi, from you pic I had you down for about 50.
What soap do you use? lol
I was gonna say dys - I haven't seen that package!
