what do you make of the above phrases...?
i hear people say them but i wonder how many truly feel them...?
did you spot your future husband/wife across a crowded room an just 'know'...?
did someone 'intrigue' you before you had even met...forced you to find out more?
have you felt this way and been happy with that person?
have you ever thought this at first...then decided it was all in your head?
is there someone you feel a weird link to, but cant understand why?
did this belief keep you with someone who was all wrong for you, but you felt the 'cosmos' or something had joined you for a reason and you just couldn't break it...?
are higher forces at work? or is it just chemistry...?
im open to the ideas but just curious what others feel..
thanks

He was from Birmingham, I'm from Leeds and we happened to be in apartments next to each other. We got talking and 8 years later the rest is history. I feel we were definitely made for each other and meant to be. I can't see how we would have met if not for the holiday
Also, I had to change to date of my hol as a friend decided she wanted to come at the last minute (literarily as I was sat in the travel agents booking). If we had gone on the original date, he wouldn't have been there
You'll get opinions for and against I'm sure. But after my experience it's hard for me to believe otherwise

It definitely wasn't love at first sight for me and my husband, we were 15 and drinking cider in the local park and hated each other! However when we were clubbing at 17/18 we were reunited by a mutual 'friend' who just happened to be my boyfriend at the time. We got talking again and we both 'knew' then we would be together. God that sounds soppy doesn't it! I ended my relationship and we were inseperable immediately. 16 years later we still feel the same and hell we've been through some sh*t together.
My sister first met her husband on holiday when she was about 15. They were both with families and we all got talking in the airport as we discovered his family only lived 15mins away from us. They were then on the same flight and to our surprise ended up at the same hotel and in the next room. A year or so later they met in town again and got together and still are. Yes I believe in fate!

I can only speak fron experience...I knew I would marry my ex husband the day I met him...went back and said to my mum I'm stuck with this one...it wasn't a comfortable feeling and it turned out badly after 13 years of marriage...and now...well Redmans posts intrigued me...I was not looking for a relationship but I felt drawn to him...we made contact and then I went to meet him...in a split second I went oh as he wasn't as I'd imagined but literally a second after that I felt something change and next thing I knew we were hugging on a station platform...we linked arms and it was the most natural thing in the world to be with him....no bells or fireworks just a quiet sense of 'coming home' and I wouldn't want it any other way..we just seem to get closer and closer... and I know this will bring out the sick bag comments but all I can say is if you are on your own just be open to the possibility that what or who you need may not be where you expect to find it/them
thanks all, interesting
yes china thats true..i suppose its more falling 'in love'...i think that can happen quicker...
but i wonder if people just know they 'going' to fall for someone..even if they dont straight away...
has anyone had this happen, an felt inextricably linked to someone...an then discovered you have nothing in common, and keep arguing...but still feel that link... and just cant break it?

I met my mrs for a brew with some other girls and that was first time id actually physically met her.. I instantly fell for her .. we got talking even more and she felt same... I haven't felt love like this before and think we are pretty perfect for each other. Years ago I didnt belive it could happen and thought people were mad when they said they had fallen for someone from meeting them the first time.. But know i take it all back.
It was probably lust at first sight. I thought mrask looked really sexy, across a crowded room. We met later that evening. Your question did this belief keep you with someone who was all wrong for you.... that is an interesting thought. It hasn't all been roses and happiness but fifty years on we are still arguing and I still love him (sometimes). There were times when I think it was a case of 'I can't afford to leave, nowhere to go, and no-one to go to'. but by and large we are still together. Not like todays married couples who split up and divorce so easily nowadays
I understand the connection thing. I met a bloke in Thailand and we had an instant connection. It wasn't sexual though. I was out there with my partner and he noticed the connection as well but didn't feel threatened by it. It was like I'd known him forever. Haven't heard from him since the tsunami... :-(
i think they are just token phrases for people trying to explain their natural emotions or circumstance. they have no real or tangible meaning.
you can fall in love with a chocolate cake or a puppy on first sight and have a 'connection' with a cat (or a sheep if you're welsh). why would that be any more laughable or implausible than saying it about a human ?
