Are you by any chance taking statins or suchlike - I have suffered from very strong back pain after taking and then reacting to Simvastin, then changing to Pravastatin, and then to Ezetrol which has been fine for about 15 months, but now the back pain has returned so I will have to see doctor and find out what else I can take to control cholesterol. Pain killers gave me hardly any relief and it go so bad I could hardly stand up straight. Only when I stopped taking them did it get better.
If only there was something "natural". While awaiting back surgery, the one thing that kept me reasonably mobile was prescribed diclofenac.
heat treatment, eg hot water bottle ?
Tens machine....
Heat has a great effect...
Perhaps you need a new mattress, and a lumbar roll to put behind your back when you are seated.
Good suggestion hopkirk..
I speak from experience.

My greatest improvement for my back was when I changed my car. I hadn't realised what an effect the poor seat in my old car was having.
sounds weird, but tiger balm. my brother has been going through a can of deep heat a week for a few months now & he tried it last week & was really pleased
osteopathy is good.

I used to take diclofenac for various pains but apparently it's now been linked to heart attacks so they don't prescribe it so much.
Try the Tens machine.

many thanks for all suggestions,
I gave my tens machine away as it did nothing for me........I'd recommend an osteopath.
