Putting it here as more people will see it.
Have I got it right that it costs £7.30 for an adult cinema ticket in the Showcase cinemas? That's dear, isn't it?

something like that coccinelle, I go very rarely, mainly to treat my daughter to a 3d film and some nice nibbles, I couldnt afford to go regularly
and if you book and pay the easiest way .. online .. they charge you extra : )
it depends which cinema; they are different prices
That's about the same price as our local Cineworld and it's a tenner if the film is 3D. Rip off.
I've just checked the price for the latest Harry Potter film at the nearest Showcase cinema to me. It's £6.30 (plus an online booking fee of £0.60).

You can find prices for your local Showcase cinema here:

I'm actually surprised at how cheap that is. Seat prices at Manchester United range from £27 to £49. Our local amateur (Ryman League) football club charges £8 to watch a game. It's hard to book a West End theatre seat for much under £50. Tickets to hear a cello soloist, sitting on hard pews in our local church, were priced at £15. Most tickets for the Royal Ballet are priced between £77 and £440. So current cinema prices (to see films which cost many millions of pounds to make) seem remarkably cheap to me!

The Odeon is even more expensive, last time I went it was about £8.50 for an adult ticket and think it's about £11 for 3D and £13 for IMAX, possibly more now as the adult price had gone up last time!

At least I have Orange Wednesdays 2 4 1 and we have a local offer card for the financial district where you get discounts and the local AMC let you have student priced tickets with it for about £4.50.
Ouch! Sure I was quited from about £21 last time I rang Old Trafford though that was a few years ago now and ended up managing to go free.

Things are getting so much more expensive, about £11/12 a game of bowling last time I went to that.

Our Christmas markets are now up and even more price hikes, it's a shame as they used to be a great place to head after work, rather than a bar, for a gluwein and bratwurst but has to be more of a treat now with the prices rising every year. They get tourists and general visitors who will pay the higher prices though as more of a one off. The outdoor ice rink is about £7.50 now to skate on. Saying that though, they markets have been rapidly spreading through more of town so at least the competition aspect should help and nice more local traders can get involved as well selling their produce.

I feel for families as it must be so expensive.
£7.50 for outdoor ice skating is relatively cheap, Jenna 1978.

At Somerset House they charge £10.50 for a daytime session and £13 for an evening one.

Incidentally, the Leicester Square Odeon charges between £8 and £21 per adult ticket (depending upon the time of day as well as seating location).

Thanks everyone. So it does seem to be the norm. I was thinking of giving cinema gift cards at Christmas time so really it'll cost £15 for a couple for just for one film! It's a lot cheaper in France...
