Wot....they're missing? Oh, noooooo.........missing where? In action??????
Never heard of Anthony Howard.
eyethenkyew, your ignorance is showing.

I didn't know about Anthony Howard until I read your post - a brilliant man. I agree with you, Sandy.
Both will be a sad loss to journalism.

/// A socialist since his school days, he believed that National Service had reinforced Britain’s class divisions.///

Interesting to note however that he entered his service as a 2nd lieutenant.

Brian Hanrahan..

A superb diplomatic and foreign correspondent for BBC News, reporting on such conflics as The Falklands, Bosnia, Kosovo and the Middle East.

R.I.P to both of them.
Totally agree.

and let's not forget Rupert Hamer.

Quite agree but his death was nearly a year ago.
AOG

Your right, we can forget about him.
Indeed sandyroe - ever famous for "I counted them all out, and I counted them all back in again" in the Falklands War.
Boxtops, apparently that was because he wasn't actually allowed to say how many there were, so he had to improvise. (Always a useful skill for a journalist.)
jno, I can understand that! - but it was (and is) a memorable report!
oh, absolutely. There was an obituary by Martin Bell in which he said how every reporter in town was trying to match it for the rest of the war and none of them even came close. Really made his name.

I expect one of your posts on AB will have the same effect for you, if you get the words just right.
Yes, I heard that on the news too. It was a very clever way of telling us they were all safe.
LOL jno, that'll be the day!
