In 2006 I bought a jade bangle. It was forced on to my wrist and now I would like to take it off. Short of breaking the bangle how can I get it off? I have tried using hand cream, soap, and putting my hand in ice water. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to get it off after four years.

Thanks woofgang. I wont feel so bad if I do have to break it.
Why would they make something that could be put on and can't be taken off?

I like bangles - especially Pandora ones but I always imagine myself in the same position a you Brinjal. I would go to the fire station - there is something about men in uniform!

;-)

Come to think of it - my first dog got his head stuck in my mum's antique vase when I was still living at home. We tried margarine - for days he reeked of the stuff.
Have you tried using vaseline or a heavy grease like that.....

alternative is is to put a plastic bag over your hand, and pull the ends of it under the jade bracelet. Pull it tight enough to make the plastic as smooth as possible. Work the bracelet over the plastic and off your hand. You can also apply lotion or soapy water, or vaseline, to help the process.

When you struggle to get a jade bangle off, you will be applying considerable pressure; your bracelet may come off with a lot of force, so it might hit something hard.so sit on a bed or on a carpeted floor

I bought the bangle on a trip to China. As you can imagine the were lots of girls selling the same items in the market. The sign over the stall said that if you cant remove it you dont pay... Right believe if you dare. The sales girl forced it on to my hand and the rtour bus was about to leave so when faced wih a screaming rable you pay, and it is very beautiful, changes hues with change in temperarture, but would have liked a bigger one.
have you tried this brinjal?

Of all thr sugestions I think going to a jewellers is probably best. After all they're equiped for these eventualities. They can do it in a way that the bangle would be able to have an invisible repair. Or have a small chain inserted so as you can wear it again.with no worries. (It will cost ya)

market stalls sell stuff for 200 quid now, blimey. I would cut it off anyway, I am not particularly materialistic and wearing a bangle for 4 days let alone 4 years would give me the irrates!!!
200 in a market in China???
What has changed since you first put it on? Have you put on any weight or could the bangle have shrunk somehow (I have no idea about jade). Have you ever been able to get it off before? Has anyone tried to help you get it off? It might help someone else trying as long as they are careful.

I had to get a watch off before a general anaesthetic and it had a mesh strap which seems to mesh together and I couldn't get it off. After my dad's attempts with a pair of pliers then a hacksaw, it got tighter and started to cut off my circulation so we ended up at the local fire station where they managed to get it off.

I felt awful having to take up their time but they seemed to quite enjoy seeing who could get it off and and thank goodness it was quiet.
I've just seen your link looby, THATS FAB. - I hope it works for Brinjal.

I have tried the plastic bag looby but no luck. Ummmm it was a "friendship market " "Government" run market. No deal no discount this is the price and you get what you pay for Market " so was quite legit. Am going to wait for the swelling to go down then will get a burly individual to help force it off. There is only so much pain one can inflict on ones self.
Elevate your arm on a few pillows for a long time to minimise the swelling. Then have a wiggle with some swarfega or lube.
