Fortunately, I inherited my 'youthful' genes from my parents - along with a little help fom Boots No. 7 moisteriser of course!
I don't get offended. I was the big 40 last year and I'm not bothered about it one bit. I think it's possibly the older generation that pretend to get offended because 'that's what you're supposed to do when cheeky young people ask such intrusive questions'. My mum (bless her heart) always used to tell me she was 21 every year and I never knew how old she really was until she was taken from me.
As for men not caring ... I agree with FP, that a lot of them (but not all of them) don't care what they look like because it's just acceptable for them to be like that, but it's not for women; most women do care, so they don't get into that situation. The difference is, unlike 50 years ago, we don't do it for men any more; we do it for us, because we feel happier ourselves, not because he will feel happier if we look good.
