OH has a LOT of indigestion and everything that goes with it ... most unpleasant. Anyway joking aside, I am worried it may not be indigestion, but something wrong with his heart. he doesn't have any other symptoms, just discomfort in the chest and lots (trust me lots) of burping.

Chris
I have stomach ulcers which cause pain well into the night even after dowining loads of gaviscon and antacid pills. I have recently discovered milk as a useful way to take the edge off the pain.

Thanks Chris - just had a quick look - he is on no medication, no obesity, no hernia but he has had diverticulitus. One of those men who won't go to the doctor, but I was wondering if this could be a symptom of anything else.
smurfchops.....if he is not short of breath, can walk 800yards without getting short of breath, no ankle swelling, then it is unlikely that he as a heart condition....unlikely.

If his "indigestion" is brought on by eating or is relieved by eating it is likely to be "indigestion"

However...the two can easily be confused, so a trip to your genial GP would be worth his while.
smurfy...sorry

<<can walk 800yards without getting short of breath<<

Should have said without getting chest pain.

Thanks sqad. no shortage of breath, very fit and plays golf twice a week. Probably me worrying about nothing but I am sick of the burping all the time. If it is an ulcer, would there be other symptoms?
smurfy....well, that does sound upper gastro-intestinal and gall bladder problems as well as hyperacidity problems comes to mind.

No big deal......but a saunter down to the GP...who would probably refer him to a Consultant Gastro-Enterologist.

Thanks again sqad. :)
He could have acid reflux. I suffered badly from indegistion for ages after chemo. Thought I had all sorts of awful things. I went to the docs and he gave me tablets, now I am somewhat better. Is he under stress?
in the meantime, he could help himself by avoiding foods which exacerbate the problem, take a large spoonful of gaviscon at bedtime, and use two pillows at night. might just sort his problems out.
Question Author
No stress, cant find any reason. he says his brothers and dad suffered from it, but it is definitely getting worse. He never burped like this when he was younger. I mentioned the doctor but he just won't go. Oh well.
