No - I think it's impolite, although I do know friends who have a relationship that includes such observations.

If I am with a partner I just fancy them. I expect the same from her. It does worry me though when I have visited couples (family/friends) where the woman has a pic or two of a famous man she likes. Kitchen cupboard or fridge doors are usually the place. The man does not have pictures of any famous woman.
