Are love bites dangerous?

I've got a couple of lovebites at the moment. My friend was horrified when she saw the one on my neck (I didn't tell her I had one on my nipple) and said you can die from them. I told her not to be stupid (I've had quite a few in the past) but now I'm secretly worried.

bit harsh to assume that 'cus someone has a love bite they're gonna be up the duff any time soon.
Let's leave the name calling to the kids eh and help these young'uns out with a bit of our wisdom.
I'll start - Dolly, most men are attracted to girls who don't put out too easily so love bites may be a turn off to many. Prams and STI's are a bigger turn off so make sure that lil bugger's 'adhering to the dress code before allowing entry'!
Don't let these ald grumps put you off, there's plenty on here who will happily offer sincere and good advice when needed.

Thanks pa___ul for your sincere answer/advice. I don't know why people are calling me names just because I have lovebites. I didn't get them just to show I'm sexually active, I keep them covered to be honest. I don't like the look of them myself but you know what it's like, you get horny, get carried away and think oh god when you see the mark in the morning.

I am very careful contraception wise :)

Could be plenty worse, when I lived in Spain a lad I knew had a fling with an Austrian chick we knew, the next day on the beach he took his shirt off and the claw marks down his back were bright red, nearly as red as his sister when she saw them! They didn't go away quickly either...saying that, nor did his grin!!

I can remember back to my teenage years and getting lovebites there used to be rumours going about saying they were dangerous, blood poisioning etc etc. Mainly these rumours were put about by kids that never got any.

Yes if the teeth pierce the skin and your partner has AIDS or another disease. Otherwise, they are pretty safe.

pinkilady, you need to grow up. What's so funny about a lovebite? I bet you had one when you were young but obviously you'll probably deny it.

So you'd disown your mother if she had a lovebite? How do you know she doesn't have one, hey?

I happened to see my mum's when we were shopping for clothes and I was in changing room with her. It's not like she flashed it to me.

Love bites are fine as long as they can't be seen. Agree with Pinki about ones on the neck....the are considered 'tramp stamps' or 'shag tags'
