its ok, i dont mind if someone wants to laugh in a puerile manner...its doesnt help though, so not really interested in them...

it affects me when it happens...but it isnt a daily thing...something usually sparks it off...then i cant shake it off and have try to think of something else

it has affected me at work...when i have to start waving my arms and fingers and 'stretching' out...i try to make it look like i have to do something else....but its horrible becaue if i think about it it happens...so its not easy to stop it...people dont get it.

i sort of fear i would do something stupid if i had an accident - like go mad an try to get out...and make it all worse...when i know i should maybe keep still or whatver..if you get me

thanks all

yes thats why my previous question was asking about peoples treatment and what worked for them...
As suggested, it's affecting your everyday functions so your GP should be able to refer you to someone that can help.
Maybe try the hynosis thing... for keeping you calm when it happens (as it will obviously) and to re-focus your thoughts afterwards so you don't dwell on it and have it play over in your mind. Doesn't sound so bad that you need a psychiatrist or psychologist to me but then I'm not a clinician!
there's chiraptophobia, which is fear of being touched... and it sounds like a bit of claustrophobia too.
Hypnosis may help you to cope with it,while a psychologist could help you find the root and reason for it....then you may be able to overcome it. This may be feasible if it's not all that debilitating,as you say.

cheers, yes i saw the touched one...but i dont have any problem with anyone else touching me or me touching myself...it seems to be where theres a crease or fold and skin touches or is forced to touch...but not all the time...i always have to have fabric in the way...

i think there is an element of claustrophobia, but in extremely tight spaces...like a small sleeping bag - but even that would be ok if my arms were free...

restriction sounds like it might be something....

but then why is it set off by fiddly little jobs - in particular the sewing machine one...

i coudl fix a fiddly chain link..but if i have to put my fingers into a kind of mchine..it sets the whole thing off...
because those are jobs where you actually become aware of where your body is and what it's doing and what it's touching? Mostly we get through the day with our body on autopilot, but when we are forced to think about it... I remember a Peanuts cartoon where Linus suddenly became "aware of his tongue" and got flustered. Maybe it's something along those lines?
I remember that peanuts cartoon,also jno.....funny-but real.
