Man thoughts please: I went on a couple of dates with a guy from a singles site. He was handsome and interesting but before our second date we were debating issues over text. In one text he put an exclamation mark which I take as meaning that you’re shouting at me. So I declined a third date and said it would be better if we stayed as friends. He expressed disappointment but that was the end of that. Then a few weeks later he texted me asking me how I was. From there we would text to and fro with some pleasant banter.

Later on he would remark what good company I was and how sexy I was and that it was a shame we never went on that first date. And to be honest I’m tempted because he’s a quality guy. My dilemma is this, should I initiate a third date or leave it because he probably just wants to have sex?

I wouldn't fall out with someone over a punctuation mark! An exclamation mark doesn't mean someone's shouting, but that they are exclaiming/pleased/excited - shouting would be capital letters.

Why do you think he's just looking for sex? Just because he commented that you were sexy? - he's probably trying to pay you a compliment!
Why did he say it was a shame you didn't go on the first date - according to you you did !
I think it will go absolutely no where if you are silly enough to cut your nose off to spite your face because of an exclamation mark; to me this would indicate that you are not mature enough to be in a realationship yet.
I wouldn't go out with him again. Could you imagine how you'd feel if he burped?

I'd give him another chance, but if he starts using commas, forget it!
Errmm..are you very fussy about the men you date...
Just asking...
Men are men are men! We see things differently from women, it is a fact that men think about 'sex' so much more than women, for a man the chase is the excitement, trust me I've been there. My advice, leave well alone or you may become just another notch on his bedpost! ;)
