Portable Sound System

I have just become an Accredited Lecturer for The Arts Society.

I need to aquire a portable sound system that will fill the average size lecture venue - say three hundred people, that I can link to my laptop. 

Any advice / suggestions gratefully received.

Hi Andy won't most places expecting you to lecture provide you the means to so? I would have thought there's not many places that hold 300 people for lectures wouldn't have their own speakers and system. Although what do I know

Bednobs - You are right in almost all cases.

Murphy's law dictates that my first venue cannot supply a sound system to go with my PowerPoint presentation, hence my query.

Psalm - thanks for your link, but if I was going to invest that sort of sum. I would use my mobile disco pa system.

Something like this might suffice; it’s mains powered, compact, light weight (<3kg) and has a wireless mic.

I don’t for a moment believe the claimed output power at 300W max (probably closer to 20W rms).

All you need is a Bluetooth speaker for your laptop, with a reasonable power output and incorporating a wired input for a microphone.  With 60W (RMS) of power, this should suffice
