Playing it cool...

How do you do this without appearing to ignore someone?
If you have been talking to someone for weeks/months on end and are really friendly with them.. then when you suddenly decide to play it cool.. how do you do this?

I am trying it today... well.. from now on anyway! I want to be in control of the situation but when he keeps coming to chat to me, I can hardly ignore him! He has already given me half a cake today too!
I am trying to not look rude but at the moment things don't seem any different because we are chatting as normal!

I was just chatting to him as he was at my desk.. again.. and he said something and flexed his muscles as it was part of the joke and I started giggling my @rse off like a school girl! How embarrassing! I can't stop!

ruby, we all know you have no intention of doing the right thing, why dont you just let it happen and learn the hard way (you will be his cheap bit on the side and he will never leave his "boring wife, but will continue to sleep with her and be daddy to his kids. You will get the occasional sh@g and get deffed out at holidays and xmas)

You could also keep your dignity and stop flirting with this creep

give it time essex, Im not hostile towards ruby, I just feel we keep going down the same road, same questions and despite all the good advice we all know that she will jump at the chance of a date with him should he click his fingers

she is worth more than some married rat who is quite happy to flirt with another woman whilst having a pregnant wife.

I am NOT going to sleep with him! This was never my intention! I enjoy the flirting, enjoy the friendship, enjoy the lunch breaks together.... I just want to be able to be in control of the flirting so I don't end up wasting all my time flirting with him and starting to believe he likes me more than he should!

Nic - I don't know who you are, as I've never had the 'pleasure' before but you don't know me either so until you do I will ignore your comments that appear to be way off base and while I feel I don't need to justify myself to someone as judgemental as yourself I will say this... I have been asked out by guys here.. single and partnered off. I haven't been on dates with any of them because it just seems like a silly idea when you work with someone! But I do like this guy and if he was single I would definately go for it and mix the business with pleasure... but for now... I need to stop flirting!

Also - I know if it ever went further than flirting, I'd lose the respect of some of the guys here who do look after me in a 'little sister' kind of way. They have given me lectures on it and told me to steer clear... I know what I am doing and I know what I should be doing but most of all I know what I won't be doing!

I just had some guy on the phone who is one of our travel reps.. he was telling me he is in London tonight and staying at one of the big hotels and did I want the address and meet him at the bar.. I laughed it off and said No... How rude! He has a wife and kids and a baby on the way! They are all at it! He is GORGEOUS though!

Caz - Trust me, I'm no stunner.. But something that really cheered me up last week was when I was in the meeting room with one of the guys and I said 'Have you heard there is a new girl in marketing... Apparently she is HOT and all the guys are drooling over her'... Then she walked past and he got a good look at her.. He said ' Yeah she is definately hot but not a patch on you... You my dear are sexy'!!! That cheered me up no end because this girl is very pretty and probably about a size 6-8.. where as I am a 14..

I think on first impression they found her hot.. She was slim, long hair, pretty face.... but after a week you hear them saying she is too skinny, he face is weird looking etc! They judged her as hot within the first few hours and after that it all went down hill... she is really mousy too!
