Should I lay a guilt trip on her
37 Answers
Bit weird this. I usually play footy on a Friday evening but this week I've arranged to go on a residential course to learn about cob building. Ordinarily this would be great but this week one of the guys wanting to play apparently used to play for Lazio! I think it's a one off. Now I'm definately going on this residential course as a girl I've recently started seeing is going on it too and since she lives miles away it's an excellent opportunity to also get to see her,. That said, would it be bad form at this early stage, given that I'm sacrificing so much to see her, to make her feel guilty about it in a light hearted sort of way?

you don"t need her to feel guilty but explain to her that you have put her first instead of the footy and im sure she"l get the message that your very interested in her. yopu can always play footy again but may never see this girl again so go for it.
enjoy yourself and empty your heavy sacks. lol xx

Skreech, just be honest and ask her if she minds, I'm sure she'll understand. If she doesn't then you know what you're letting yourself in for! LOL
What's cob building? I have images of towers of sweetcorns in my head
And, when, exactly did he play for Lazio? If we're talking about him being a sub, once, in 1962 then I'd understand if she felt annoyed ;-)

Dunno, the organiser just phoned me this morning and said that one of the new guys that's been showing up that looks like Boris Johnson knows somebody that used to play for Lazio that wants to play on Friday. Johnson gets stuck in so I can only assume he's fairly young still.
I'm definately going on the course (unless it's cancelled in which case I'm playing footy while the bird warms up the bed for me!)
Cob building is basically making your own materials to build with using clay, sand and straw. It's low impact, cheap and sustainable. It's just an introductory DVD that we'll watch but we'll be doing some dry stuff about volunteer retention through experiental learning, a lecture about unvented solar hot water heating, along with some reviewing work, outdoor hot tubbing, sauna-ing and sleeping in a thatched roundhouse or a tipi.
Should be good but the footy would be comparable to playing with somebody that used to play for Man United or something.

Dont make a rod for your own back, don't even mention the football, if she thinks there's the slightest chance you'll put her before the football she'll try it every time.
Lay down the ground rules at the start , let her know she comes 2nd to your needs and the relationship should work fine (bit like getting a new puppy really, kick the sh!t out of it when you get it and it'll never give you any grief later)

It's ok Bednobs, she told me that she's really sorry but at least I'll see her to compensate so I'm glad she understands and I don't really care that you don't. Fact is getting to play footy with somebody that used to play with a top rated Italian team doesn't happen everyday and I have every right to feel down about missing it. I'm a 24 year old redblooded male by the way, I assume you're not?
nah, i'm not. I am being genuine (and a bit dim by the looks of it)when i say i dont understand why she should feel guilty you would rather see her than go to the footy? Shuldn't she feel flattered rather than guilty? or do you mean guilty that someone likes her that much? But then why would you be teasing her about that? <<<<< genuinely dosent understand!
