I went to my local Asda this morning and waited for it to open, it was pathetic to see a long line of men desperately waiting for the door to open so they could get the valentines flowers, cards bottle of bubbly that they had obviously forgotten to get., I couldnt resist it I said to one poor guy at checkout "I bet you've forgotten the card and he actually ran back !!!
I also noticed that Asda was stacked floor to ceiling with Easter eggs !
I post with a planet-sized feeling of smugness - my wife and I returned from shopping this morning to find a humungous bouquet had been left in the front porch with a card with a love message included.
We opened at 11am today to just the same sort of queue and we have been selling valentine cards all day, i had taken all the cards off between 4.45 and 5 but one bloke still shot in at 4.,55 and started rooting through the cards in a box on the floor! it was hilarious, he looked really panicked!
personally, I'm sorry to see yet another day on which you're supposed to rush out and spend money. Good news for Asda, I suppose. (And for Dot.) But I don't go much on all this commercialisation of love.
I was really suprised i got a night away at a hotel near perth, large box of choccies wined and dined and then he gave me a pair of beautiful diamond stud earrings
