What is unappealing to one is very appealing to another so yes, attraction matters, but only in the initial stages - after that, you need something of a personality to build a relationship.
If you mean does it help to be good looking, the answer is yes of course, but it's not a deal breaker - not with anyone worth spending time with anyway.
I use to but not anymore. In previous relationships I've been initially attracted to them. The one I'm in currently I didn't find attractive. I love him and now I think he's gorgeous.
I think in the first instance, yes. It's someone's looks that will usually attract you to them in the first place but I've always found once you get to know someones personality they can either become very attractive non-physically or very attractive physically but not in any other way.
Lol...nothing. We've known each other since we were 5. I never looked at him that way. When I split with my Ex I spent more and more time with him...and he became more and more attractive. He's a lovely man...I'm a lucky girl :-)
Saying that, if you asked my o/h who is generally considered very good looking, you would wonder what he is doing with me. He is definitely the better looking one of the couple.
What if someone you don't know at all suddenly asks you out. You don't find them physically attractive, and you don't know their personality to make a decision based on that? They could be a mass murderer! (nervous laugh)
Physical attractiveness matters in relationships where such things matter. Most people I know value attributes like honesty, being caring etc rather than good looks.
I think you 'get used' to someone's looks after you have known them for a while.
I used to go out with a stunning looking girl - and when i say that, I mean pubs would go quiet when we walked in, that sort of stunning.
When i got to know her, i was just used to the effect she had, and loved her for who she was, but still noticfed occasionally when a guy would gawp at her, and then look at me, as though to say "How on earth did you ..." - it's a long story!
