Fibre helps too, porridge is a good thing to eat (I love it but it doesn't love me...sob), try the water first and perhaps don't have big meals, several small meals throughout the day is better than three large meals I think.
Thanks classy lady!! I ate sooo much today, then halfway through i cant finish what im eating then two hrs later im bloody staaaarving!!
Tomorrow...new leaf...plenty water for a start....mmmm i do love porridge, i think i defeat the purpose by drowning it in milk though lol xxx

I think drinking water throughout the day stops me feeling hungry and good for the skin and body generally, especially after a hangover. Also get some fresh air by going for a nice walk. I used to find that if we went out for a special slap up meal (not necessarily fattening) I used to feel more hungry after a few hours than if I hadnt been out. It must get your taste buds going or something.

I assume this is desired weight loss related even if just for the hols :-)
Soup can help produce a full feeling because the liquid can't just drain off as water can, but stays in the stomach for digestion.
Carbs tend to stay giving a full feeling too. I know many diets say to go easy on them, but I find not feeling an urge to eat is easily worth more than any small benefit avoiding them gives.
I suggest rather than eating more of one food type or less of another you try, if possible, to concentrate on portion control. Get used to smaller portions gradually and when you have lost weight you have a better chance of keeping to a senisble intake and keeping it off.

You should be eating regularly and if you eat proper food such as protein (meat or fish) and lots of vegetables/salad you will feel full.
Avoid all carbs and sugars - they make you fat! That includes fruit; an apple is equivalent to 3 spoons of sugar, a banana 6 spoons.
Processed foods (incl bread) bypass the body's natural ability to know when it's had enough.
