Does anyone else think this diet is not half as good as the old WW Points system? I`ve followed it religiously this week and not lost an ounce. It seems really restrictive with less of a result.

A cynic might say that Weightwatchers had no interest in helping people to lose weight as quickly as possible as it relied on repeat visits to perpetuate the brand so a pound (weight) max per week could be just fine.
I preferred the old points system. I don't think the new one has worked very well as they dropped down the total points for a day from 29 to 26.

I agree jared. For example my two cups of tea per morning (including a day`s milk) counts for 5 points. As they`ve only added 6 or 7 points a day (to 26 from the old 19 or 20), almost the whole difference is made up just from my tea. They`ve increased the point values of food (and in some cases doubled them) but only given a max of 26 points a day. When I started the diet I straight away thought it was too restictive but persevered when I lost 4.5 lbs in the first 2 weeks. Next week I put on 1lb, then lost .5 lb then another .5lb so I was back to where I was 2 weeks previously. I thought it was just me being slack so last week I followed the diet religiously (I even had 30 of my weekly points left by yesterday) and I haven`t lost anything at all. My personal opinion is that the diet is so restrictive that it`s slowed my metabolism.
I don't go very often as I do not like the new points system. I am a gold member as I reached my goal weight - am not there now though!! but I only have to pay when I go, so only go to get stocked up with their chocolate bars lol When they changed the points I found that I didn't lose much at all, so now I try to do it on my own.

Thanks. It`s nice to know I`m not alone. I`ll give it another week and if I don`t lose any more weight I`m going to go back to the old points. I`ve still got the book and the calculator.
I occasionally wonder what the new system is. I'm familiar with the old one (UK system being kc/70 + satfat/4) but what do they calculate these days ?

They`ve gone back to calculating carbs, fibre, fat and protein (calories don`t come into it). Their idea is that some foods take more energy to digest so for example, whereas in the old days a chocolate bar was the same points as a steak, now they say you use more energy digesting the steak so it is actually better to eat that than the chocolate bar. "The science has changed" apparently! I think they just needed to dream up another diet to keep things fresh though.

I visit the WW site regularly and there are many people who do not like the ProPoints system. A Facebook page has been set up for Vintage Pointers (old system) and they seem to have quite a few members. There is also a board on the WW site "Ask Each Other" which VPs visit.

I`ve heard about vintage points. I might look into that. I`m going to give myself another week though. I`ve an idea what I did wrong. I got weighed the day I got back from Hong Kong. I remembered that you`re always heavier when you`ve been flying (I think you store fluid or something). If I don`t lose next week, it`s back to the vintage points I think.
