Onwards and Downwards Continues in June
Hi Everyone,
We were looking forward to the warm weather in last month's thread, well we got it didn't we?
Interested to hear about Jan's new wobbler and whether it does the job. Has anyone else done any unusual excercise recently or in the past and has it worked or was it just a bit of fun?

Welcome aboard Islasmum... you hit the nail on the head about needing inspiration when the novelty of loosing weight wears thin. This is our strong point that we can help you get focused again. I hope we will work for you.

A new month and a new me, well that's what I'm hoping for!
I've had my hospital treatment and all's well; I've had a few days away and I've had my visitors to stay, so as of today I'm back on track.
I don't think I went far off the track to be honest but I have had a few meals out and a couple of portions of chips along the way, but that's all behind me now. Onwards and Downwards.

Oooer, not sure whether I want you lot thinking about me while I'm wobbling away, lol! All seems to be going well although I've been told it could be a few weeks before I notice any difference, weight wise or with loss of inches but will definitely let you know. Out a couple of times over this weekend to do a bit of celebrating for her maj and just hoping it won't show on the scales next week. Perhaps I will have to do some extra wobbling?
Here is an indication as to why, when I want to buy something, I don't get around to it for ages.
Just getting confused over the choice of scales on the Net, none of which was clearly what I wanted, so I finally cracked and looked for some in the local shops yesterday afternoon. Most seemed to have 'barely ok but not something I clearly wanted' scales, eventually I ended up in Dunelm feeling maybe it was best to just get whatever seemed adequate.
Took some time to decide between two Hanson brand scales before eventually opting not to pay extra for 4 memories that I'd probably not use. Tried to do some more shopping elsewhere, which proved fruitless (Internet order and waiting for parcel delivery seems the only way to find what you want these days) then came home. Didn't check the product immediately as I had things to do, but later decided I'd better give it a try.
Removed the slip that disconnected the battery, set the units to st/lbs, put it on the floor and tapped the top. It showed zero for a while, and finally the display turned off. Waited over 10 seconds as instructed before stepping on; then waited, and waited and waited, and waited and waited, and waited and waited, and waited and waited, and waited and waited until I was blue in the face.
If being sold junk was a rare one off thing it would be different, but it's not, it's so common. How is it that 'everything' one buys these days is just garbage that's been pawned off on the customer ? Is there no quality control, no pride in the product ? It's a case of do it cheap, get it out, the money in, and accept some customers will be inconvenienced but just not care.
Naturally I got my coat on immediately to go return it, but had the sense to check the website. They would have been closed.
So much to the 10 year guarantee. But that said it may be a blessing in disguise. What I read this morning, which was for some inexplicable reason, omitted from the box but only found in the multi language manual, was that it doesn't work well on carpet, which should be avoided. That is vital information, if it doesn't have the legs or whatever it takes to work on carpet it should tell folk in large letters on the box.
So no better off re scales unfortunately, and I have to make the return journey this morning.

Oh dear OG. I hate shopping too, so I sympathise. I wouldn't use scales on carpet though, because the scales are bound to give a little, and how do the scales know if it's thin carpet or springy deep pile? Hope I haven't given you something else to worry about. But I always use my scales on an uncarpeted surface.
I can't say I understand why scales seem to have problems with the surface they are on: when all settles down the scales still have the same weight on top of them and so should be able to show the right weight. But you are correct, only a percentage suggest they can be used on carpet and these usually have optional things to put on the legs. I suspect poor design.
Aye, I've tried replacing the batteries. And I note the scales one buys now tends to use lithium disk-like batteries not the normal AAA or AA ones :-(
Had a guest over the weekend so not even totalled up the calories eaten, yet alone weighed myself. Probably going to be a shock when I do, assuming I trust the reading.

Hello ? Anyone here ? Echo echo echo echo echo
No, they must all still be on holiday :-)
Well, it says 2¾ lbs down on the week, today. Whilst good to see it doesn't ring true as most of the weekend turned out, unsurprisingly, to be above target intake. Still; take the good reading when they come eh ?
