Hello all,
A very happy New year to all our Onwards and Downwards crew. I hope you all had a lovely time over Christmas and let yourselves have a treat now and then. I expect we shall gain a few more members this months, well the more the merrier I say.
We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

A big welcome to all the new folk joining us. This group is definitely better than any of the expensive slimming clubs and so friendly and helpful.
Now can everyone move over and make room on the naughty step for me. I have gained 3lbs over Christmas but don't really mind as I know I definitely overindulged. Babk to normal from today and hopefully in a couple of weeks or so I will be back down again.
Happy (and light) New Year everyone!!

Hi all, popped in to say hello and hope you all have a happy new year. Lost the plot a bit over Christmas as finding it hard not being able to weigh myself and keep being good but back on plan now. All naughty things gone now so back on the fruit and veg with a vengeance. I am very fed up of not being able to get out though and can't wait for my appointment on the 17th when I am praying they will let me have a walking plaster so I can go out on myself again. People I was relying on have let me down quite a bit so only been out once in the last 4 weeks and going a bit stir crazy.
Good luck everyone in this new year and let's hope we all get where we want to.

Awww Jan, if only I could pop round and take you out, I would. We could go for a wheel round the block and a soup and salad lunch :-) In fact I don't know anyone on here who wouldn't do the same if they could.
Chin up sweetpea, the 17th isn't so long now and we're all fingers crossed for you being allowed to put your foot on the floor very soon now.
Happy New Year and keep posting won't you.

Great to hear from you Jan. I can so understand that you are getting fed up. Just hang on in there and know that you are in our thoughts and we are all rooting for you.
As you can see most of us went a bit beserk this Christmas. I think we shall have to get a special New Year's naughty step to accomodate us all.
Now it is back to the nitty gritty. I'm thinking fish and chicken, salads, low fat, cut way back on the bread treats and generally eating like a proper person again and not a little piggy.

Hello Jan and I hope 2013 will be a better year for you. please do not worry as during the past year you have been our star . Top of the class all the way. Yes I agree it is not the same when you have to rely on other people but hang in there you will get back on track. Most of us on here know what you have achieved .
Thank you for the welcome. A big part of my problem is organisation I suppose. Also, actually buying stuff that 'is not good' and having it in the house.
I have gone thru some recipe books and will try and do soups and healthier recipes. I am now using the bread machine again so I know exactly whats in it - shame about needing the salt. OH always has sandwiches for lunch so can't not have it.
I don't log on every day but will be around and look forward to knowing you all.

Hello Annie we don't make a point either of logging in here everyday unless we see someone has replied to a post. Wednesday is our weigh day and comments . Always try and work out your weekly meals in advance and write everything down as this helps for organising the following weeks menus. My top tip for me is a glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice in the mornings as this helps to break fat down BUT I woild alse like to stress that some people on certain medication are not allowed this but it helps me as I have no medication. Good luck for next Wed,
I have lost 24 lbs in 6 months but unfortunately put back on 2 lbs over the Christmas week. How easy it is to put on weight and how difficult to lose it again. But back to the grindstone now and onwards and downwards as ed says. Weight Watchers had a saying 'A minute on the lips, a month on the hips' and how true that is.
That is a good healthy weight loss starbuckone. I'm sure that you will be able to get rid of that 2 lbs now when you have done so well. Wendilla and I find that planning your meals ahead of time and shopping after the weeks menu is a good way to stay on the straight and narrow.
Christmas is a time of treats which we have obviously indulged in with great glee. Now let's use the same energy to loose the souveniers of the treats.
We're starting out with steamed salmon in a bag that I have just seen Jamie do on the telly. Well he used sea bass but I have salmon in the freezer. Tomorrow is a low fat chicken curry and Sat is low fat chickern stir fry.

Sorry, if I'm fidgeting on this step. I'm doing my best to get off it but the sweet tooth is back this week and the cold turkey is making me wriggle.
I think I might get some sugar free sweets. These look OK for 10 cals each. I only need one in the evening.

Or will I get to rely on them? I do have an addictive nature. Previously it was smoking, but I gave it up and then it was sugar. I gave that up but its back a bit this week. I think the sweets would be better than me reaching for biscuits at 1am! No - I should just go without and get over it. Sorted :-)

I think that most people have an addictive nature Maidup. Like you my weight came on after stopping smoking and I developed a sweet tooth for the first time in my life. I have had sugar free sweets but got very tired of them because they don't taste 100% right. Did you find that it was easier to stop smoking than to loose weight?
Happy New Year to everyone! I just weighed myself (I do it on a Saturday morning instead of Wednesday) and I have lost the pound I put on over the festive period. I am I quite happy with that - all the festive goodies are almost eaten (just half a Christmas cake, a few biscuits,a handful of chocolates and various bits of assorted cheeses left), and I have now given up the old amber nectar for a few weeks (my major downfall). Good luck for next week everyone!
