Hello all,

A very happy New year to all our Onwards and Downwards crew. I hope you all had a lovely time over Christmas and let yourselves have a treat now and then. I expect we shall gain a few more members this months, well the more the merrier I say.

We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Hi everyone,

I started my new healthy eating plan on Tuesday and weighed myself today have lost 3lb :o) I'm very happy with that. I've decided that once I've lost 7lb I'm going to treat myself to a hair cut, but not until I've lost it. It really needs cutting so that'll be an incentive to do it.

My weigh-ins will be Saturdays as I'm working during the week.
Well done LyndaB and Tigger.

Like xstitcher I never had a problem with my weight when I smoked . It used to be a cuppa and a cig but now after 15 years of no ssmoking it is a cuppa and a few biscuits.

Good luck for next week I can predict that I will stay the same as I am doing a first new years Sunday family dinner tomorrow.
Well done Lynda B and Tigger, that's such an achievement!
Thank you for the tips wendilla. Unfortunately I have had a couple of 'moments' in Tesco and no longer go there - long (some say amusing) story!
Belated happy new wishes and all that. Weighed myself today for the first time since mid December. I seem to have gone back 6 months in time :-( Hope it doesn't take that long to come off a second time.
Happy New Year OG..good to have you back. From the sound of things you must have really enjoyed your holidays.....too bad that Santa didn't give you a kinder scales. :-)
Thanks Wendilla and Notafish and well done LyndaB x

I weighed myself this morning just to see how I'd done since I started last Tuesday and I've lost 4lb altogether. That is the most I've ever lost in one week apart from when I had some food poisoning or winter vomitting bug earlier on this year. I lost 4lb in 3 days then. I guess the loss is mostly water and I won't lose that much in one week again. Its a good start though and I've been able to get back into my work trousers which I couldn't do last week :o)))
Well done tig.
Thanks O_G xx
AArgh...forgot to weigh myself. I'm too busy thinking about a new phone I have to purchase today and I hate the things.

I'll weigh in tomorrow...good luck to the rest of you onwards and downwards.....
No change for me this week. I've tried hard and avoided too many nasties. I feel better for it, but no doubt my body is just adjusting again after Christmas. I am fighting with my sweet tooth but I've bought plenty of fruit and low sugar yoghurt. I'll keep at it.

Good luck everyone and to you xstitcher with your phone today!
Up 2⅝ lbs from the mid December reading, but on the bright side, down 1⅞ lbs on the Monday reading (which seems a bit more than expected, to be honest). So on course to correct the festive season's blip.
I have walked past my scales a few times dreading it as I know it's a gain . Have been half good but did family dinner on Sunday. I know if I did not weigh it would be another set back. Another 1lb has caught up with me.. That's 4lbs in all since xmas. Watch this space for next week. Onwards and Downwards.
Well done for getting on those scales wendilla. Congrats on weight loss O_G. Keep it up Maid - I found some ready made jellies that were only 10 cals in Sains - would that be of interest. Good luck for tomorrow xstitcher.
I really don't know how but I have lost 4lb. - same as you tig. My clothes do feel more comfortable and I feel better about myself.
I have started doing the 2 day a week fast (well 500 cals). Have only done one day and you eat normally on the other 5 days. A friend of mine has lost over a stone in 3 months. Slow and sure. So we'll see how it goes.
Well done Anniebar!! I've put on another half a pound :-( I'm fed up now.
Thanks Annie, jellies are a good idea. I'll get a few of those to ring the changes.

And congratulations - 4lbs is a great acheivement.
Don't be too hard on yourself notafish.

It might be worth trying a few new recipes. I got stuck back in the autumn and someone suggested having a change of menu. I realised I was eating pretty much the same old thing day in day out and not shifting anymore weight. I did try a few new things and off it came again.

Have a look at some of these for a bit of inspiration

Hi All, I'm out this week because I have put my back out and couldn't even stand on scales at the moment. Sitting here is also painful so see you all later when I'm myself again.....
Oh no. Sorry to hear. Hope it eases soon.
Thanks notafish and Maid. My scales don't do half pounds - is that good or bad?!
