Onwards and Downwards Continues in February 2013

Hello all,

Welcome to February, I hope that those of you who were on a strict post Christmas diet have had some great results, and relaxed just a little.

Look out just around the corner is Valentine's Day! Save the chocs and dinner out and spend the money on a spa day or movie evening with the OH instead. Any other ideas?

We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

I know the feeling LYnda; sometimes the harder you try the less you shift. I got "stuck " for a couple of weeks after Christmas not lossing anything much and I think its down to the weather. Our bodies holding on to it for warmth! Try a change of menu. If you're eating similar meals on a regular basis see if you can think of something different. We're trying sweet...

Im pleased at the rate I'm currently losing weight and don't want to lose it any quicker really, I think losing it fairly slowly gives the body time to adjust to a new way of eating and the weight is more likely to stay off. I have been a bit slack in the last few days and I think it will show by next Wednesday. At the end of the day I see my diet not only a way of losing weight but a whole new way of eating more healthily, I have gone into the diet as a lifelong diet change to Maintain a better way of eating. So far I'm very pleased at my level of food intake, as I'm rarely hungry due to eating quite good size meals of mostly fish, rice, cous cous salads and pasta with a few eggs and lean meats. I really couldn't do this if I was fighting hunger constantly.
You seem to be doing a text book change ratter and I am sure that you will reach your goal and be able to maintain it. I agree with you that slow and steady is the way to go. It will be fun to follow your quest.
Xstitcher has said it all Ratter. You know what you are doing so keep up the good work and yes you will get into a new way of eating if you lose it slowly which is best not to lose too fast as you said.
Well I'm delighted to announce that I've lost 4lbs this week, after a few weeks of either staying the same or losing just a pound. My aim was to lose three stones before I returned to Tenerife, and if I lose just three pounds next week - I will have done!
Well done Lynda looks like you are aiming the right way but be careful as 4lbs last week and you aim for 3 this week is quite a lot so be careful as it can go back on faster than you get it off.
Yes Linda I'll back up Wendilla here that too much too fast is not going to stay a loss for long so be careful. Are you eating normal healthy meals while loosing weight?
Best of luck with the 3 lbs.
Of course I'm eating healthy meals. Last night I had roast chicken with veg and just a small amount of mash, tonight I'm having fresh salmon which I'm going to cook with a glaze of soy sauce, honey and lemon juice. I'm serving it with new potatoes and roast veg. A normal working day would include meals like these plus a bowl of porridge in the morning, plus various fruit and salad, or maybe some homemade soup. My big vice is beer, which I have cut out completely - until my jolly. When I return, I shall give it up again.

I'm aiming to lose 3lbs this week, but if I don't, I won't worry about it. I'm going on holiday next Monday and don't give the diet a second thought, but when I come back, my aim is to lose another 7lbs before I go away again at the end of April, then another 7 before we go away in July. Altogether, I would say I had about 5st to lose, so I'm over halfway there :-)
your targets seem ok after you come back and of course you won't give eating a second thought. Enjoy your holiday. Yes if you have quite a lot to lose 3lbs is ok .I did not realise you were aiming for 5 stone but just be carefull not too quick.
Your meals sound good and I think your idea about your holiday is right...don't pack your scales :-)
Good Morning All,

I've stayed the same but don't deserve to. I'm totally lacking motivation at the moment and am ashamed of that. I don't know why.
Morning Xstitcher still stayed the same must get motivated too. I am still blaming this weather for not getting back on track but it is always a reprieve when staying the same but not good enough.
Morning!

Am I too late to join in?

I joined slimming world last week and had my first weigh in last night, lost 4lbs. I'm well chuffed with that as I really struggled and ended up giving into temptation a few too many times. I'm such a fussy eater I find it hard to find anything I really enjoy eating much of that's syn free. I also never realised how addicted to white bread I am.

Want to lose about 2 stone - partly for summer but mostly for my 30th in December - but my little weight loss has given me a bit of a boost. Just need to find something to curb the bread craving!
Never too late. Always ongoing. Welcome aboard Evian. Nice loss.

Not been a good week for me. Up 1⅞ lbs :-(
Least said the best I think.
Good morning all, ive lost 1.5 lb, not brilliant but Im pleased, ive not had a great week, I had to take some clients to a birthday party on Monday and eat with them so not in control of my diet really but I must admit the carrot cake went down a bloody treat, both slices!

It must be discouraging to diet all week and see no change on the scales, so far I have been lucky, keep it up and be positive, we will get there eventually.

Welcome Evianbabyand well done. Just a few tips for you if you want to try it. My weakness is bread especially toast. To cut down on this I use french toast which I can only get from Tescos. It is crispy you don't need to put anything on it nice to have with salad too. About £1 25 a packet. Another tip I swear by is a small glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice in the morning this helps to break fat up. I MUST STRESS that with some medication you are not allowed it but luckily I am not on any meds. I always have a treat as yes it can be boring .I am not doing very well at the moment but I am blaming this weather but I am keeping off the junk food so that is a help till I get motivated again.
RATTER that is a good loss but be careful your carrot cake don't catch up with you. I had to laugh when you said both slices.
OG be like me blame the weather. But will have no excuse when it warms up a bit.

Maybe it's the reason my loss is slow, long term, but I don't avoid bread. I use up a small loaf a week. I especially look forward to toast for Saturday breakfast. Like most things in the diet, one just has to ensure one stays within the daily allowance when all's totalled, or like me not too far over the top some days plus a few days just under during the week.

My problem for this week and next is someone has given me half an Xmas cake. I opted to have a small slice last night and later almost dropped through the floor when I worked out what it cost me. Was way over yesterday even without the cake, and it wasn't obvious looking at the list of eaten things until the figures were summed.
Thanks all! Nice to have a bit of a sounding board here.

Wendilla, thanks for the tips. I must admit I don't even know what french toast is but I'll definitely check it out. And the grapefruit juice is a great tip! I don't take any meds so should be ok for me.
Evianbaby when I finish the birds I will take a pic and show you french toast.
