Onwards and Downwards Continues in February 2013

Hello all,

Welcome to February, I hope that those of you who were on a strict post Christmas diet have had some great results, and relaxed just a little.

Look out just around the corner is Valentine's Day! Save the chocs and dinner out and spend the money on a spa day or movie evening with the OH instead. Any other ideas?

We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

I know the feeling LYnda; sometimes the harder you try the less you shift. I got "stuck " for a couple of weeks after Christmas not lossing anything much and I think its down to the weather. Our bodies holding on to it for warmth! Try a change of menu. If you're eating similar meals on a regular basis see if you can think of something different. We're trying sweet...

im pleased this week, lost 2.5lb approx :-)

Nearly at the 14 stone mark, I will be pleased when I get that one out of the way and im reading 13 stone + hopefully within the week.
Well done Ratter Yes it's a great feeling when you get under the number you have been at . Good luck for next week to get to 13 something.
Well done Ratter, you'll need new jeans soon and thats the BEST feeling.
Do you have a tip of the week to help the others along?
Well done Ratter, you'll have to share your secret.
Im just fairly strict, I eat mostly fish, chicken and other lean meats with rice or salads. I dont add sugar to anything, I have now switched my breakfast to two slices of toast with Marmite followed by a chopped up kiwi fruit with two spoons of full fat yoghurt I also have the breakfast for supper.

However I have just eaten a big bowl of vienetta ice cream and it was bloody lovely.

I do have the occasional treat lol
Viennetta, mmmmm. Didn't know they still made it. Cheers, Ratter, was just about to brag about my 1 1/2lb loss at Weightwatchers, but now I'm thinking of going on a Vienetta hunt instead. Well done, by the way!
A 2lb loss here - I'm about to dip below 13 stone, and hope I never see that number on my scales again :)
Well done kiki and taichi, keep up the good work....
I got quite excited last night going to bed!!!

I was able to bend over and cut my own toe nails without having to get my foot up on the bedside table and I could actually breath while doing it!!

Its been a while since I was able to do that comfortably :-)
taichiperson, well done mate, im still looking at reaching 13 stone from the other direction.
Well done Taich and Kiki

JAN let us know how you are getting on after your OP. Hope all is going well for you. You are an inspiration to us the amount of weight you have lost. If you have gained please don't be disheartened as I know you will get back on track. Hope you are reading this.

That goes for me too Jan.....
Im happy now, I've just dropped below the 14 stone mark, but only just!
I usually gain a lb over the weekend though and then lose it again.

I will need to skip the treats this weekend to keep under the 14 stone mark.
Incidently, I actually weigh myself everyday and have a graph of weight loss/gain I find that weighing everyday motivates me, Im really pleased to see the weight drop a little each day and it makes me very determined to when I see I have gained.

I have read that you should only weigh once a week, I find I need more motivation than once a week and I think if I thought I been losing weight all week only to find that I have remained the same or even gained, I would find it very hard and soul destroying.

It works for me.

Do you all only weigh once a week.
:-)

I had a surprise drop this moorning too. Particlarly since I tried my first KFC for about 30 years, plus I ate the penultimate slice of Xmas cake I was given. I should have gone up a couple of pounds ! (It'll probably show up by Wednesday.)
"morning" like I typed >:-(

No, once a day Monday to Saturday. Usually not in a position to weigh Sunday. Couldn't put up with the lack of knowledge on a weekly weigh.
Lol OG, maybe the KFC contained enough toxins to cause a mass clear out of fat. I used to love KFC but like you I haven't eaten them for many years, I have tried one a few years ago and it was dreadful, I also am put off by the minute size of the chicken legs, they must be killing the chickens so young to have such tiny legs!! I hate it.

When I am seriously motivated I will weigh myself on a Sunday so as I have 3 days to TRY and get a loss before weigh on Wednesday. eg on Friday I had my grandson here for dinner and his favourite is fish and chips so what did I do? Sent up for delivery now I have to be good which I have been and hoping and praying but I won't weigh on Sunday as I will be disheartened if I have gained. If it works for you Ratter keep at it no harm in weighing daily you seem to be well motivated.
Glad to hear that KFC isn't good. I have a hard time walking by one but haven't had any since the 80's. I did have proper fish and chips about 3 years ago but it was so fatty that I really felt unwell after eating it and have no desire to try again so that was a well worth sin. I like your food ratter. I am getting huge kiwis down here in Spain and have one after lunch and dinner. I have never really eaten them much before. If I HAVE to have sugar in something I use sweetner either powder, liquid or tablets but I really don't know much about it.
Isn't good maybe be a little harsh. Unsure what I expected to find, perhaps a limited menu offering the standard southern fried chicken with various optional extras. In fact the place looked more like a Burger King or McDonald's. I guess both have expanded into each other's area.

Flustered by all the wallboards, none of which seemed to just say "KFC meal" (and there was no way I was going to get a sharing bucket !) , I opted for a Snackbox. Just as well as it happens since that was a lot of fat/calories on it's own.

But the disappointment was that there were many chips, which added a lot of calories/fat and which I could get anywhere if I wanted, and just the one small fillet of coated chicken, which is what I wanted.

It tasted fine, not as great as my dodgy memory recalled, but ok. It just wasn't worth the excess I ended up having on the day.

Thing is the place has been just up the road from me since I moved here about a decade ago, and I just decided I must try them sometime, and that turned out to be this Saturday.
