Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
Have not got a theme this month so how about your favourite go to healthy recipe.
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!
Oh goodness, I have missed this again this week. I cannot seem to remember what day it is half the time, plus I've been burning the candle a bit! I might weigh in the morning if I think to, if not I'll be with you again next week. My favourite healthy recipe is to replace the mince in your shepherds pie, for a tin of green lentils and chopped celery (mmmmm). Fry off some...
Is there no way you could find a "saving" earlier in the day to allow you to not worry so much about eating more at 10 ?
Or you could go to bed and read while he had tea & bickies downstairs.
I don;t have a lot of suggestions re recommended snacks, but I do look at the 'go ahead' brand when I want something around for mid afternoon. Some snacks are less calorific than others, probably just need to compare labels at the next supermarket shop.
I have an idea for you Maydup...if you can find a supermarket that has a good range of diabetic foods you will find lovely biscuits, snack bars, ice creams and even cake mixes plus more. They will tick off the boxes for you. As far as fruits go..any that have the end word ....berry...are lowest in calories.
I tend to think if you have reached the stage where you need to indulge to quell hunger, you've probably not had enough veg at the last meal, or something.
I like to have something that tastes sweet to r ound off my last meal of the day and then that's it until breakfast.
About eating the go whole package of biscuits could you not say to yourself. I'll have two and no more. That usually works for me. It does become a habit in time.
Got the battery for my scales . I tell myself just one more . I pick up a cake in asda then I say to myself what you picking that up for as that's a few more ounces on your weight on Wednesday so I put it back . I try to stick to if I don't buy it I can't eat it .
Thanks all for your thoughts. This evening I'd had my meal of low fat cannelloni with a sizeable salad followed by strawberries and total 0% yoghurt with a squirt of diabetic friendly Sweet Freedom. Now, lets see if I can leave it at that!
In the meantime I will look for the diabetic friendly biscuits in the supermarket as you suggest - excellent idea. To be honest this is all left over from the days when I was a smoker and replaced one 10o'clock habit with another.
I've been OK for a while but am struggling again now with this retched sweet tooth. It only ever emerges in the evening.
Good morning all,
Down almost two pounds so have a smilie face this morning.
Did you find the diabetic biscuits Maydup? Hope it goes well for the rest of you.
Morning all I am still the same as usual. MAYDUP that was the same as me I did not have too much of a problem when I smoked but stopped 16 years ago when my first grandson was born. Well done Xstitcher you are well on track now.
Apologies but I'm not noting weights at the moment. I'll do so again once the week long period of 24 hour a day feasting and such like, that the scales are consistently claiming occurred, actually does.
Well, that's kind. Often folk add a letter to the start of that description, but maybe they're from oop north ?
To be honest they don't always get the vowel right either.
Hmmm... it's not so much a case of going, it's a case of needing to eat like a horse for a whole week to justify the readings I'm getting. I didn't resist ordering pizza, and the like, just to be informed that, as a reward for my restraint, I'm back at the start of the year.
Oh dear OG those scales are giving you a hard time. Maybe we should pass the hat around and buy you new ones ha ha . Mine for instance are being very good at the moment. They are just ordinary run of the mill middle priced digital ones.
