Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

It can be really hard to stay good so lets have a look at some treats made with good stuff:

Yes I realise they are all cakes but everyone deserves a treat especially you lot :-)

Hi everybody, yup it's that time of the year when we can gorge on the lovely pommegranate seeds. You can use them as a snack or put them in a green salad with avocados for a colour blast. Google "how to deseed pommegranates" to find out which easy method suits you. I like the water in a bowl and scooping out the white bits with a little sieve.

I have just re-read my post. Yet again reality has changed whilst I was looking elsewhere. Happens far too often at present. Now I have to try, probably in vain, to recall what word it was I REALLY typed when things changed to have the word "understand" in both positions. :-(
Sorry OG you have lost me there. I hope it doesn't mean that you didn't loose that weight.

Good for you Maydup. I was glad to hear that you could partake in the gastro joys of Paris and still stay the same. That's what I call control!
No, it means I wrote, "I neither xxxxxxxxxx, nor, I have to say, understand my body", and at some point when I wasn't looking some deity (I assume) changed the whole of reality so it read, "I neither understand, nor, I have to say, understand my body". Presumably to make me look a fool again. And I can not recall now what the "xxxxxxxxxx" really was now.

The weight loss, minor though it is, is correct as far as I know.

It is happening to me so often these days. Every time I write something at any computer I spend more time correcting the stuff I clearly could not have typed, to that which it should be. And the same whatever follows me around putting lights on that I clearly must have turned off, or opens oven doors when clearly I must have closed them, and so on, and on, and on, and on, and never ending. I can understand why folk in the Middle Ages believed in fairy-folk, goblins, pixies and suchlike. They were, as I am. searching for an explanation that isn't intolerable. {sigh}

But that's not a diet issue, should not be discussed here, it's more the way life is turning. {double sigh}
Oh dear OG and I still look for the fairies at the bottom of my garden .
I'd crack a joke but I'd probably be accused of homophobia :-)
LOL - if those recent posts from OG had been at 10.30pm I'd put it down to a wee tipple but at 8.30am and 10.30am? Away with the fairies! Understand?
I'm not doing very well recently. I know it's because I need to be more active, but I don't like exercise. OG, is "trust" the xxxxxxword that you're looking for?
:-) Nice try but no, it was a longer word; and I do trust my body. Well to keep giving my problems anyway. No, I fear it has gone forever now.
OG perseverance is the word you are looking for . marijn I don't like excercise either but hang in there you will succeed .
From past experience I know exercise is not so bad once it has a slot in your regular timetable, but I also have no enthusiasm to rejoin and use expensive gyms. And I don't recall experiencing the highs some folk claim to get. Plus one can still get that, "Oh... I suppose I should go to gym", feeling prior.
I have a set of exercises that I can do at home. I tend to race through them just to get it over and done with so I can get my day started. Thet take me 10 min but should take 15. I find it easier to do my very little walk...at the moment I'm doing neither due to an over loaded time table......good excuse eh!

Thank you Wendilla. I think I'll probably do better to just do a few minutes exercise a day, like Xstitcher, than to do my Pilates class once a week, which I don't look forward to.
You should be able to enjoy what you're doing or you won't do it Marijn. I won't say I enjoy my little walks but I do enjoy the feeling of the halo over my head when I've done it and now I'm reaping the rewards. I've lost 11 kilos and feel 11 years younger, my blood sugar is almost normal again and I can buy some clothes that aren't in the plus sizes. My weight loss is being remarked on so even though the remaining fat is going to be hard to shift I'm bound and determined to get there but have set no date. As long as I keep up this regime it will happen at some point.
That's lovely :-)
Good morning all, I'm the same, can't complain. It's soup time but I haven't made any of my type of chunky veg soup yet, but we're having homemade onion soup tonight.
No walk today as its already begun our all day rain so will do my little bedroom workout and NO I don't mean that OG.
LOL xstitcher.
I'm a fraction down today and despite the cooler times, I'm enjoying the changes it brings to our menus. Hello soups, hello roasted vegetables, hello risotto and welcome back porridge oats.

Morning all just a little over 1lb lt last . yes must get the soupmaker out . Well done Maydup it gives us a boost with just a small loss. Xstitcher it will help with the soups and change of menus for cooler days.
You could say Maydup that you take care of the fractions and the pounds take care of themselves :-))
Good for you too Wendilla.
I think I'll make up some of that Breton Bean soup I had last year. A coffee mug at a time should be fine.
EASY GOOD PORRIDGE

2 tablespoons porridge oats
little salt
about 1 teaspoon cinnamon.....can be left out or more used.
3/8 pint lo fat milk or 200 ml

Put all in a medium sized mixing bowl and micro wave at high for about 2 min.
Take out and stir.
Give it 2 min more and it should be done.
