Onwards and Downwards Continues in November 2014
Hello all,
Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
With Christmas and party season on the horizon some of us may want to look our best for that special do. And while you are all doing a fantastic job in the weight department we mustn't forget that self-esteem also comes from within and a dynamite outfit can give a massive confidence boost. If we feel good inside we look good outside. OK enough pep talk here are a few links that you may find helpful when shopping or looking at your wardrobe:

The main conclusion seems to be that shaped and tailored fitting clothes will flatter most shapes even if they are slightly fuller. So ladies and gents lets flaunt what we've got and show the world that while we are trying to change our shape we are still amazing!!
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Hi Wendilla, Breakfast: I have choice of porridge or egg and bacon to choose from.
Mid morning: A choice or apple, conference pear or banana.
Lunch: A choice of soup, or egg and bacon, or Spaghetti in salmon or tuna sauce or stir-fry chicken.
Mid afternoon: again a choice of fruit.
Evening meal: is either chicken, lamb or beef with vegetables, or the pasta fish sauce. For a treat, a lamb casserole; or best of all, for a special treat, a veg lasagne.
When I discovered that pasta that contains durum wheat was a NO-NO, I found an alternative Penne and Spaghetti made from corn and rice which is acceptable, especially with a spicier sauce! Alas I have yet to find corn/rice pasta layers for lasagne!

Well done all you losers and thanks for your lovely inspirational story Jomlett.
Unfortunately I'm on the naughty step this week having gained 1/2lb. I know exactly what I've been up to and most of my mistakes have begun with c! Yes A few chips, too much cheese again and even a packet of crisps. Its 7weeks until Christmas now and if I put my mind to it I could be half a stone lighter by then - that's my new aim now. No more chocolate, cappuchinos or cakes!

Oh OG all the best of luck. You can make a harmless and delicious cappuccino at home. You will need a good instant coffee, a very lo fat milk (mine is 0.05%)and an electric milk frother whisk (eBay....cheap)
Heat about 250 ml milk ...I use the microwave..just a bit over 2min. Add one tablespoon of coffee to your mug and sweetner if you need it. Pour in the hot milk..about 200 ml of it, fill rest of mug with hot water. Whip remaining milk and spoon over your cappuccino. I then sprinkle mine from a salt shaker a combination of cinnamon and stevia sweetner. Hey presto no calories and it tastes really good! These measurements will vary with the size of you mug/cup.

I had delicious potato wedges last night and thought I'd share the method with you all.
Scrub, prick and dry one large potato per person. Microwave on a sheet of kitchen paper for 5 minutes (up to 4 together). Turn and microwave for a further 5 minutes.
Meanwhile line a baking tray with foil and spray with Olive Fry Light.
Remove potatoes from microwave and slice in 4 lengthways. Lay them on the foil and spray them with fry light.
Bake in a hot oven until crispy and golden. Approx 30 minutes at 200c
Delicious!!!!!
We had them with a feta and beetroot salad but the world is your oyster!

I have lost 4 lbs this week which makes 49lbs (3 1/2 stones). I started before 5 weeks before my last holiday, losing 2 st before I went. I stayed more less the same while away (just 1lb on because I do a lot of swimming on holiday) and wanted to lose another 1 1/2 stone before I went on holiday again. I'm well chaffed to have succeeded and I'm off to Tenerife in 4 hours. When I come home it will be straight back onto the straight and narrow, and I have set myself a target of another half stone off before Christmas. I have never been so determined to lose weight and keep it off in my entire life. Maybe this will be the time I succeed!
