Just tried my big coats on and only one fits!!!!!
As I said I intended to have a 'dry' November - I only drink at the weekends so that's not really the problem. I might as well go the whole hog and try to drop a dress size by the end of the month. I have only started today though as I had to finish a bottle of wine on Saturday - left from Friday (that was October)
Anyway so far its been a bowl of malted wheat things and I'm about to have an apple or tangerine

I'm not sure how much but I would like to drop a dress size before Christmas.
I'm an odd shape - top heavy - so if it fits around the waist its too tight round the chest.
As for a low carb diet - I'd rather die than not have bread

I'm like you Ric.Ror - I love my bread (all kinds) big time.
I stopped drinking about 2 weeks ago ie during the week and I have lost 4lbs so I am definitely giving it up - just 2or 3 at the weekends and maybe not.
However, my next door neighbour has given up bread for the last 6 months and he has lost about 1stone and half. Every diet book I encounter all have no carbs so it must work.

I started again three months ago. I realised that I was fed up of having aching legs, a bad back and generally feeling unwell and decided there and then to do something about it. On the spot I gave up the amber nectar (apart from when I'm on holiday) and instead of waiting till some Monday in the dim and distance future I started that very day. I use My Fitness Pal (I downloaded the app onto my iPad) which is totally free and very easy to use. It counts calories so you can basically have whatever you want providing you stay within your limit. It takes into account what kind of job you have, how much weight you need to lose, how active you are generally etc. So far, I have lost over three stones and dropped three sizes in as many months and feel fantastic. In that three months, I have been on holiday for two weeks and I am going again next week (can't wait for that first lovely pint lol). Good luck!
Regarding a low carb diet...the fact that you'd rather die than not have bread is an indication that bread is *exactly* what you should give up.
I could eat bread til the cows come home,but since giving up wheat I have fewer aches in my joints, and am far less bloated. Last time I went on a bread frenzy...one weekend...I gained 5 pounds and felt awful. That says it all for me.
Oh...and those who do low carb/higher fat( which is how it should be done) usually lower their bad cholesterol,and keep the weight off better than the standard low cal diet.
