Anybody give me an idea of what to expect - you know the diet itself.

A friend told me last night that her heavy brother has lost 5 stone and he is feeling great.

Thank you.

We found it very hard in the beginning and we gave up with it but adopted certain elements to change our diets for the better. Both of us just felt miserable the entire time.

Someone I know lost half her body weight over a year and looks great for it so I guess it is personal choice.
Actually I think it is very very good. The diet is very straightforward in fact diet is the wrong word. The whole ethos is just sensible eating. Meals you can prepare yourself are very easy. Healthy eating. Just cut out the rubbish. I have lost nearly 2 stone in about 3 months. Slow steady progress. The important thing is to stick with it. Last year I was in SW and lost weight but left as I thought I had cracked it. But without the discipline of the class I soon put it on again. Now that I am back I am in control again and far happier for it. Join up at least for a month and then decide. Good luck.

thank you for your answers - I deffo need to lose weight.
Well if you want to lose then join your SW class. Well worth it and it's great socialising with others like yourself trying their best. At times it's not easy but stay committed and hang in there. What day are you going to your SW class? Let us know how you get on. I am a great believer of SW. Works for me and NO I am not a consultant!!!

congrats nilrac on that great loss -
I've been doing it for 8 weeks and have lost 8lb. I have about 1 1/2 stone to lose all together. I joined online which was £80 for three months membership. You don't go to classes but have access to online forums with other members, all the information, loads of recipes, plus they send you the books and a magazine every month. Then you have to weigh yourself once a week and log your weight online.

The diet I'm finding very easy. It's no longer the red and green days. They've combined that now so you can eat as much as you like of pasta, rice, veg, fruit, fish, and lean meat. Wheat and dairy is limited to one portion a day, then there are syns for treats. It takes a bit of planning to make sure you have the right foods in the house and it means cooking most meals from scratch, but if you are prepared to do this then it is easy. No need to feel hungry. Iceland also sell SW ready meals which are nice.
How can you be allowed to eat unlimited pasta, yet only be allowed one portion of wheat? Pasta IS wheat...oh,and a bit of water.
I lost 3.5 stone with SW - I still go. I stopped once I reach my target.........big mistake. I put about 2st back on, so now I go all the time. You don't pay once you're at target. We have a man at our group who was massively over weight - he has lost 7st so far. Give it a go - their is plenty you can eat with this diet. Good luck.
Jenny my OH lost 3 stone, but he has never dieted before but he more or less cut out alcohol which helped. Buy the Extra Easy Cookbook lots of easy tasty recipes. The Slimming World Magazine has loads of tips too and a weekly meal plan which gives you lots of ideas. I am having a bacon, butternut squash and leek risotto tonight from the EE cookbook - delicious!
Agreed Pastafreak - I know people succeed on the 'diet' but most of it made no sense to me lol. You can eat unlimited pasta but no bread?!
Ok don't understand how it works, but it does!
