Proof Of Id
I tried to sign up for Government Gateway recently and failed as they were asking for two types of evidence of proof of ID.
I don’t have a passport and the only other ‘thing’ that I have is a driving licence.
Last week, as I am coming up to 70, I had to send my licence into the DVLA and now there is a chance that they may not renew it due to my diabetes.
This leaves me without any of the standard things that are good for proof of ID.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives to these that would be regarded strong enough to prove ID?
Back in the 2000s when I was lecturing, all my students had ID cards – and I don’t mean their college issued ID badges, I have not seen these since I retired and I am wondering if anyone knows how these were obtained and if they are still available for someone of my age.
Thanks in advance

It has to have a photo on it, and of course it has a serial number that can be checked. Although I drive, (I am in my 70's) I keep up my bus pass and use 2/3 times a year. Can't think of anything else, hope this helps.
CitizenCards (which might well be what you've referred to in your post) are used primarily as 'prrof of age' cards but they can also be used simply to prove one's ID:
