can i recall a cheque

i issued a cheque which has been cleared for goods acquired over the net but these have not been delivered. The cheque has cleared and I would like to recall the cheque now. In understood that cheques up to 6 months old can be cancelled and the funds repaid. Is this correct

Alas no.

The 6 months rule applies to forged or stolen cheques - not genuine ones like yours. (By stolen I mean that the cheque book has been stolen and the cheques used, not that you have paid someone and they haven't deliovered)
