my daughter is about to rent a house and the rental agents want me to be guarantor ..I don't object to this but they say i need to pay 60 so as to have a credit check ..I think this should come out of the 210 admin charge they've already charged my daughter.. my question is ..how much does it actually cost to have a credit check done on someone?

Less than this - part of it will invariably be part of their administration charge (again).
You could try saying you've no problem for paying for the actual cost - on production of the invoice from their supplier, but I don't think you will get anywhere.
have a look at the websites for Experion and Equifax. ask the rental agents who they use (most likely one of those) and offer to get it yourself for them. it's not going to get any cheaper than that.
It's not just the cost of the actual reort - there are administration costs in inputting data, collecting the report and processing the information found on the report. They will also either use the report to make a recommendation to the landlord or prepare a report for the landlord themselves, based on the information they have found. Unfortunately it's a necessary cost.
How would you feel about it if your daughter didn't require a guarantor, and was paying 210 admin fee, part of which was going to subsidise the costs of doing credit checks on other people's guarantors? I know what my reaction would be!!
