HMRC Tax Refund

I've just received an email from "[email protected]" advising me that I am owed a refund of £170.00. There is a verify form to fill in to enable them to refund me.
BUT.....the form requires card details, bank details, PIN Number, passwords for bank and e mails, mother's maiden name and the Verification Code on the back of the card.

This has got to be a scam, but the site looks very real and has all the links etc to the .gov sites.

Anyone had an e mail too and what do you think?

Anyone due a tax refund usually gets a posted cheque and HMRC never contacts anyone in the way you describe.

If you read the web-page carefully, it asks you to give details of account to be *debited*.

I thought so but it had me going for about 5 seconds until I saw the amount of info that they required. I'll forward it to the phishing address.

Definite phising chrissa, I get this from time to time, HMRC are glad to be informed via [email protected]

Any email that doesn't mention your name or NI number from HMRC or any from a bank addressed to 'Dear valued customer' should not be trusted.
I get several a week from HMRC and banks I don't bank with

This is a well known scam and seems to be increasing since the recent announcement that HMRC owe millions of pounds in overpaid tax to taxpayers.. HMRC do not send out emails to taxpayers. Everything is conducted in writing by snail mail so just delete any such emails.
