Caught Out By Automatic Renewals

anyone else been caught out by automatic renewals? I was by Experian. A friend was by a dating site run by Global Personals, a company you only need Google to see what they're like. Yes, the likes of us should be more vigilant when signing up, but we all make mistakes and sometimes it seems like these firms take full advantage of that and our naivety.

you have hit the nail on the head - your naivety.
I haven't yet but I still think they should be illegal unless the individual has been unquestionably made aware of the option and signed up specifically for it. Otherwise it is a clear attempt at theft.
I got caught with one on a cancelled card, I wrongly assumed that because the card had been cancelled by my bank, that they wouldn't allow a direct debit request to be paid through it, oh well, you live and learn.
