What are the legal/tax issues with babysitting?

Because obviously babysitters get paid cash in hand so theres no tax or anything paid on it?

Income from babysitting is taxable it the same way that any other income from employment is. Many people who do babysitting jobs, however, have at total annual income of less than 4895 and therefore wouldn't pay tax anyway. (Legally, they should still complete a tax return but HMRC are unlikely to be too bothered if, say, a 6th-form student fails to tell them about a few hours babysitting).
