There are two rates of Attendance Allowance (AA).
The Lower rate for frequent help or supervision during the day OR night and a Higher rate for
supervision or care during the day AND Night. The Higher rate is also payable to the terminally ill.
The Lower rate is currently £58.70 a week and the higher rate is £87.65 a week.
If the Higher rate of AA is not in payment, you need to get a DS1500 completed as soon as possible to ask for the Higher rate under the Spcual Rules. You can ask for the change to be backdated but you'll need to give good reasons for not requesting it earlier.
There is an earnings limit (£123 a week after deductions)for folk receiving Carer's Allowance. It is an all or nothing limit, there is no sliding scale of deductions.
