me too (or is it me either?) and yes I am sure. We did get money back on endowment mortgage mis-selling though.

I didn't know you could get compensation for mis-sold PPI. If only I'd been told. :-)

The whole PPI scandal was brought about by allowing spivs to dream up unwanted and unnecessary ways of fleecing customers by selling them additional "products" when all they wanted was a loan or credit card or whatever. The bigger scandal is that those same spivs have sailed quietly off into the sunset with the piles of dosh they earned from those activities, leaving the current customers and shareholders of the institutions concerned to foot the massive bill.

It still goes on. Customers are still being offered various financial products of dubious worth when they buy goods or services. The most prevalent example I can think of is so-called "extended warranties". I bought a kettle for £16.99 a few months ago and was offered an "extended warranty" for £12.95 (76% of the cost of a new kettle) to go with it.

And an additional scandal is expecting the possible victims to have to apply. Should've been a legal requirement for the institutions to hold up their hand and reimburse, under the threat of possible criminal charges for non-compliance.

Here's a though NJ, it might be worth actually buying an extended warranty now so you can reap a big compensation windfall when the inevitable 'miss-sold extended warranty scandal' kicks off.

Woof, glad to hear it, but not for all I'm afraid later on, when salesman knew they where a bad investment, and had no chance of a reasonable pay out Those same salesmen filled their bank accounts with high commission pay outs.

dead right teacake....we got ours straight from the bank...there may have been set up charges but we didn't pay a middle man
