Hi, my aunt gave me a couple of cheques last year, and left the dates off because she knew I was shielding and might not be able to get to the bank for some time. I'm now fully vaccinated, and wondering if I were to add dates for some time in the past three months, could I lodge the cheques and they would process normally? I know nothing about this sort of thing, but don't want to get either me or my aunt in trouble! Thanks in advance

No problem, cheques are valid for six months. Simplest thing would be just to date them for the day you present them. No one is in any danger of getting into trouble.
Might be an idea just to check with your aunt first that funds are currently available to honour the cheques.
Good point, China.

Many thanks! Off to the bank now :)
No need to go anywhere. Your bank app allows you to photograph and pay in the cheque from anywhere.
I often get a cheque from my club treasurer for expenses. he just Whatapps a photo of the cheque over. I print it and present it via the app. It works well. We have to do it this way because it needs 2 signatures (one of them mine) and cant be sent by BACS.
you can pay them in with a phone.
not with Santander seemingly. Pay in at branch or branch cash machine or by post.
With the HSBC app, no more than £750 each day can be paid in by cheques and the limit for one cheque is £500.
yeah ring her and say you are putting todays date on is that OK
