The vendor is not buying a property and so you won't be held up whilst their house purchase goes through.

To me it means the owners are not dependent on buying somewhere themselves from someone else also doing the same. That's a chain. In other words if you buy it you can buy it when you want and not rely on when the sellers are able to move out or get somewhere else to live.

Don't rely on its authenticity roadman. I was assured of this in a house purchase until it came to exchanging contracts whereupon it was not possible owing to the vendor's purchase being delayed. Estate Agents are notorious liars.

It was a mixed blessing for me, I cancelled the purchase and then got a much better place as a result :-)

Yes, in my experience do not take these things at face value. Another one not to beleive is "cash buyer"- the buyer asked for a reduction at last minute saying morgage lender wouldnt lend enough
