Will the banks continue to issue non-chip cards for those, who for whatever reason, simply cannot manage a PIN number. I know of one elderly man who just cannot get head round it and insists on signing each time he pays. What can he do after 14th Feb which is the last day he can sign ?
There is a scheme in place to allow people who, for various reasons, are unable to use the Chip and Pin technology - ask the gentleman to speak to his bank, and they will be able to assist.
In A Pickle, that isn't true about Sainsbury's, people who cannot use Chip & PIN can request a Chip & Signature card from their bank which Sainsbury's will accept (taken from their website)
Pickle, I rather thought that might have been where you got your info. I can see that it's going to be absolute chaos come the day as I expect most companies will have policies in place that the haven't told to the people on the shop floor. The other option for those who can't use a PIN is to go back to the old cheque book.
