I have just made a payment to my catalogue with my switch card and I was asked if I give my consent for the card details to be kept on file for future payments. I have paid many times with my switch card with this particular catalogue as well as lots of other companies but have never been asked this before. Is it safe to say yes to my details being kept on file?
I would say, on the basis of you having previous dealings, that it probablyis safe to let them have you details on record - but why should you. As an individual I would advise against it. As a mail-order operater, I would say - why should you. I have several repeat customers but I always assure them, that for safety, we do not keep their numbers. The less information that others have, the better for your peace of mind.
Sometimes it means that they will take payment automatically when it is due without asking you. Check that out I think? But again, why should store them, I agree that the less information someone has the better and safer you are.
