My sister has got a loan from Provident, she is a single mother of two. The agent goes round to her house every friday, recently she has a new agent to go round to collect the money but she turns up at 8.30-9 O'clock in the evening. I think this is an unreasonable time to go round. What I want to know is, is this illegal ?

Thanks in advance.

I think you will find that this is the usual time for Provident agents to call. They are only part-time and collecting on a Friday evening seems to be the time that is mutually convenient - when their customers have been paid but have not yet had the time to spend it elsewhere!

yes it's legal unfortunately.

She could see if there is a credit union in her area save a little with them if possible and try to pay off the provident. I think you are able to get a loan after 3 months with them. Much better interest rate and no one calling at her house.

I have Provident and my agent is very good. I was off one week on holiday and asked if she could come around on the following Monday - no problem. I would imagine they have to be flexible to some degree and also friendly and approachable if they want to keep your custom I'd have thought...
