Hello. I am setting up a pet sitting and dog walkin company in the midlands and need insurance for obvious reasons. I am totally lost now as i don' no if i need public liability or a special pet insurance. All web sites are either taking me to domestic pet cover or getting quotes from companies has turned out unhelpful as they do not know what i need exactly. I cant get through to actual 'real' people and if i fill out another net application i will start to swallow my own head! PLEASE HELP ME!

I would have thought that it might be an idea to go to a reputable insurance broker and discuss exactly what you are going to do.

I would suspect that normal insurance wont cover you. I believe for one that Public Liabality cover is for alot more money than normal policies. For example, I work for a small company with 5 people and we hold 2 million pounds public liability insurance.

You must think what sort of damage could be caused if something went wrong. Dog running loose and causing an accident, mauling a child ect. I would doubt that normal policies would cover you, certainly not any house policies you might already hold as you are dealing with other peoples' dogs which would not come under your normal insurance.

Please dont take what I say as gospel but do take advice from a good broker or insurance consultant.

Try looking at this if you havent already done so
